Fedora Linux 44 Now Available for Silverblue: Upgrade via GUI or Terminal with Rollback Safety

Fedora Silverblue users can now upgrade to Fedora Linux 44 using either GNOME Software or the terminal, with full rollback support if issues arise. The atomic desktop platform, built on Fedora Linux, gains the latest features and security patches in this major release.

Before rebasing, install all pending updates. Run rpm-ostree update in the terminal or use GNOME Software's update screen. After a reboot, you are ready for the rebase.
In GNOME Software, the new Fedora 44 image appears on the Updates screen. Select Download, wait for completion, then click Restart & Upgrade. The system reboots into the new release.
Terminal users can verify the availability with ostree remote refs fedora. Look for fedora:fedora/44/x86_64/silverblue. Optionally pin the current deployment with sudo ostree admin pin 0. Then run rpm-ostree rebase fedora:fedora/44/x86_64/silverblue and reboot.
Rollback Mechanism Ensures Safety
If the upgrade fails, recovery is straightforward. At boot, press Esc to access the GRUB menu and select the previous deployment. To make the rollback permanent, execute rpm-ostree rollback after booting into the old version.
